Insulating heating pipe35 viewsSpecial foam is sprayed on to hot water pipes that will be buried in the ground. Alex designed a way of rotating the pipe for even coverage.

Assembly of Dome33 viewsThe dome structure which is the home of our waste wood heating system was put up in a day with the help of a crane and a contractor who had assembled them before. There was still lots of work to do after that to get it all safely braced and covered.

Electrical trench40 viewsColin working in the trench that made us all unhappy that spring. The clay was all disturbed and it was hard to get around it until it was warm enough to grade it and cover it with stone.

Inside of dome44 viewsDome in this picture has been braced and covered. The front end which is for storing fuel is covered with a tarp material. The back quarter, which houses the boiler is covered in steel.

Crane setting boiler in place41 viewsIt was a tight squeeze, but the crane operator wiggled in and was able to place the boiler down perfectly. Crane operators have to be the calmest, most careful workers in the world! To the left you can see the forms for the trench which houses the conveyor, which transports the wood chips to the boiler. The floor and trench were poured a month later.
