Privacy Policy
- We respect, and are committed to protect, your privacy in your
interactions with us.
- Please note that we may change the content of this policy at any time.
The date that it was updated is marked at the end of this document.
- The information that we retain about you can be of a personal or a
non-personal nature. The personal information may be a name, address, phone number;
the non-personal information may include the type of plants purchased, the type
of browser used to access our website, the time of day, the internet protocol
address you are using, and the pages visited.
- In the normal course of business we may or may not need personal
information from you:
- For wholesale customers: it may be necessary to request enough
information from you to be able to contact you in the normal course of business
(shipping, invoicing etc), establish a credit rating or other depending on the
circumstances of our working agreement. When placing wholesale orders via the
website or other software, customers are not required to use their name or other
identifying details. We will assign a username and password (where necessary)
that links to information already available to us to allow us to process your
order.
- For retail customers: Many retail purchases from us are completely
anonymous in nature. All cash sales at our satellite locations require no personal
information at all and none is retained, except where tax exemptions are claimed
and must be justified. Where credit or debit cards are used, only the normal
records of the transaction are kept; we keep no personal records as a result
of these transactions.
- For retail customers at our Odessa location: An exception is at our
Odessa garden centre where you may wish to benefit from our discount scheme.
In order to establish a sales history for you and calculate your discount
entitlement we need to have at a minimum your name and telephone number to
identify your account uniquely in our systems and to prevent abuse of this
privilege. We also reserve the right to ask for identification where a customer
wishes to benefit from our Senior’s, Kingston Horticultural Society or other
discount.
- If you wish to order through our website, it is essential that we
have some personal information to be able to identify your order and comply
with your instructions. For example we will require your name and address in
order to deliver product that you have requested. Where the transfer of credit
card information is required our website will transfer the summary details of
your order to a secure facility for the private detail to be added. See the
retail site FAQ
for more information
- All information collected from you or volunteered by you is only used
for internal purposes. We will not disclose any information about you to
third parties unless we have your consent or we are required by law to do so.
- It is important that you should be able to review and modify any
personal information retained by us either on our servers or on paper.
You may do so either by contacting our office, or where on-line registration
is offered (for example our retail online ordering facility) you may make the
changes yourself by logging in and following the 'my account' button.
- We will collect and aggregate non-personal (anonymous) information to
enable us to ensure that our facilities are functioning correctly and to be
able to plan for future years. However none of this information is shared with
third parties except in a general sense, such as perhaps the overall percentage
of sales of petunias relative to total sales, or the number of orders received
via the internet each week.
- You can help to protect your privacy by ensuring that usernames and
passwords are kept private, and that you erase traces of your visit to our
site from any computer station that you share with others.
- This site can and may use cookies, but only with your permission. We do
not use the cookies to store information that may be viewed by a third party.
Here is some further information on cookies.
